Robert Lakatos

Robert Lakatos received the first prize award at Pablo de Sarasate Competition in Pamplona, Spain 2015, after which he has achieved international acclaim.

The highlights of the current season include engagements with the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, Belgrade Philharmonic, Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and Malaga Philharmonic.

He will play a recital with violinist Julian Rachlin and pianist Maxim Lando on the new festival Stars and Rising Stars in Munich, Germany. The concert will include the world premiere of a new work by Antoni Parrera Fons.

Despite Robert's career being at an early stage, he has already performed with the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, The Krakow Philharmonic, The Orquestra Sinfonica da la UANL, Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, New York Summit Festival Orchestra, Banja Luka Philharmonic Orchestra, The Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, Zhdk Strings and Janacek Camerata.

So far, he has played with conductors such as Lior Shambadal, Antoni Wit, Philip Greenberg and Eduard Schmieder.

Robert Lakatos was born in Novi Sad, Serbia in 1991 and grew up in a family of musicians, mentored by his father Imre Lakatos. Since 2015 he has been studying with Julian Rachlin at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna and attending PhD studies mentored by Roman Simovic.

Apart form the Pablo de Sarasate Competition he has won numerous prizes at international music competitions and received top prizes at the Andrea Postacchini – Italy, Jeunesses Musicales – Romania and the Marry Smart Competition – New York. Lakatos holds the position of Violin Professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.

Robert plays on 1789 Lorenzo Storioni, generously loaned to him by Goh Family Foundation and the bow made by Vladimir Radosavljevic.
