Eimear McGeown

A First Class Honours graduate from the Trinity College of Music, London, the Irish flautist Eimear McGeown has established a busy and varied career both classically and on the traditional Irish flute.

She has appeared as soloist in America, South America, South Korea, Japan, The Philippines and Europe, notably at the BBC Last Night of the Proms, broadcast on BBC TV, and World Premiere Concerto at the Library of Congress, Washington DC. She has recorded for record labels, Decca, Universal, Chandos Records and on BBC Radio, Classic FM and RTE Lyric FM. Already having appeared before President Bill Clinton, Prince Charles, and Prince Edward, in 2011, at the invitation by Her Majesty the Queen, Eimear McGeown attended a Royal Reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate her achievements in the Performing Arts.

On Irish flute, Eimear has two All Ireland titles, has released a Celtic EP and recorded on Barry Douglas' 'Celtic Reflections' Album, which includes two of her own compositions.

She has recorded at the Abbey Road Studios and for the video game Runescape, and performed in Lord of the Rings in the West End, London. She performed at the Sori International Music Festival in South Korea with the Irish Memory Orchestra and recently as featured soloist in Tokyo's Opera City Concert Hall.

She has also performed with the X Factor singer Matt Cardle on the National Television Awards, the rock band Amsterdam at the Glastonbury Festival, and supporting The Pogues in the Echo Arena, Liverpool.

The violinist, born to an English father and Polish mother, is joined by close collaborators and friends in a programme that spans everything from Italian-influenced works from the early 1600s to a UK première of a work by Krzysztof Penderecki and a world première by Paulina Załubska.
